"I bet I figure out how they’re connected before you do."
Beckett breaking balls since 2009.
Stana Katic being super cute at CicLAvia
It’s a joke. It’s got to be a joke. But there was no way it was. The moment their children ran from the top of the stairs and crash into her on the couch, nothing but wide grins and smiles that are contagious, she knows it’s no joke.
"Mommy!" Their eldest, James, was at her right side pulling at her collar to get her attention. Anna wass content at her other side, playing with the velcro straps of her Police vest. “Look!” He said again, tugging a little harder to get her attention.
She turned her head to glance at the Writer vest that he was sporting. “You look very handsome, baby.” She told him as she feathered a kiss against his nose that made it crinkle a little. He tried to push her away, but her lips brushed for another against his wrinkled nose and he whined softly. “Alright, alright. I get the point.” She told him, but stole another one against his cheek as he finally swatted at her cheek. “Where’s Daddy?” She asked their children, causing their younger to look up at them with a grin.
"S’upsters!" She told her mother, and pointed to where they’d just came from.
Kate nodded her head and stole a glance at the staircase, her husband nowhere to be found; she assumed he was lying in wait in a mild attempt to see how she felt about their children’s costumes before he faced the music. “Oh is he?” She said a little loudly, intending for him to hear it. “It’s a shame he’s all the way up there, isn’t it, bug?” She asked, running her fingers through Anna’s short curls.
Her baby, unsure of what Kate was telling her anyway, nodded her head gleefully and then went back to the velcro straps. Kate brushed a kiss against her temple and glanced at the steps once more as Castle descended them. She smiled at him gently.
"You know, I’m pretty sure they were kidding about the whole ‘I wanna be Mommy and Daddy’ thing," she told him as he moved to stand in front of them. Anna lifted up her arms toward her father and he collected her into his own, peppering kisses against her cheek and neck as she pawed at his face and giggled.
"Maybe." He shrugged and adjusted Anna on his hip. "But they look cute, don’t they?"
She had to admit, it was a cute idea. And the kids didn’t seem too irritated with the fabric, which is what normally happened with their costumes. “They look adorable.” She agreed and turned her head to young James with an even wider grin. “You know, you look even cuter than your Daddy in that vest.” She said as she straightened it slightly, leaning in. “Oh, don’t tell him I said that.”
"Hey!" Castle said, bouncing Anna on his hip as he stood there. "I’m right here."
Kate said nothing, just poked her tongue out at him and he watched the grin take over her cheeks.
The night of Halloween, James took Anna’s hand in his and lead her in front of their parents. Kate moved to join them, but Rick placed a hand against her arm and pulled out his phone.
"One for the books," he explained as he bent down on one knee and took a photo of their children. Kate placed a hand on her growing belly.
As he stood back up, grabbing her own hand in his, she looked up at him. “Castle,” she said gently. “What are we going to do next year with this one?” She asked as they began to walk to their children, easily catching up.
He shrugged one shoulder. “Let Ryan and Espo fight over which one he dresses as?”
She knocked her shoulder into his as they walked. “And if it’s a girl?” She asked him as she turned her head to look at him.
"Can’t be. I’ve got a perfect sequence of girl-boy-girl going on. Boy is the next logical variable."
Kate rolled her eyes gently. “I guess we will see on Thursday at our appointment,” she said as she turned toward James and Anna as she stopped and picked up a rock and he gently took it away from her, despite her anger at him.
"I’ll be twenty it’s a boy." He said quickly and her head shot back over. "What?"
"You’re asking me to bet on our kid?” She asked as she rolled her eyes.
"Why not? Ryan, Espo and I bet on-" he cut himself off as the Beckett glare appeared. "Anna." He finished in a much quieter voice.
"Well," Kate looked away from him. "You better hope you’ve got luck on your side. I’ve got Momma’s intuition on my side. And you’ll be owing me a lot more than just twenty bucks." She smirked suggestively as she detached their hands and moved to join up with their children.
Oh, he smirked, he could definitely do that.
I love these color posts so much.
